Marion Yates, Head of the International Centre at York St John University, delivered the workshops to a group of around 50 participants in Tripoli and around 100 in Tarhouna. It was Marion's first visit to Libya and she comments, 'I was very impressed by the facilities offered by each university and also by the enthusiasm of the participants. We have welcomed a number of Libyan students to our English Language courses at York St John and so I was particularly interested in coming to Libya to see something of the country and experience the culture for myself. I was made to feel very welcome, wherever I went, and learned a great deal about language teaching in Libya. Following my visit, I have great admiration for the talented and dedicated teachers I met, who are
doing so much to promote English language teaching within Libya.'
